I have asked Dr A for an explanation. I have written to Dr A for an explanation. I have asked the British Dental Association for help. I have asked the General Medical Council and the British Medical Association for help. I have asked my sister, his senior colleague for help, which she refused saying Dr A meant well. I consulted many solicitors, one lost the correspondence I sent them, one said there was a "conflict of interest, many did not return my many calls. Two wanted an "upfront" deposit of £2-3,000 before they would even look at the case. one read the case notes and said that there was a case of negligence to answer but that was out of their practicing remit, even though they advertised every where as being "Medical Negligence Solicitors". I kept asking all the counsellors, psychiatrists I saw for help to get answers and was either ignored, given more medication or told I was a contentious patient, not willing to fit in etc etc..... One psychiatrist did however recommend the solicitor that lost my documents. She also said "I needed answers not treatment" to me, but sadly not in the final professional letter before she emigrated. I started a formal complaint against Dr A with the Local Health Board in October 2003 at the same time as I started a complaint with the hospital services where I had to attend an informal meeting with the "head" psychiatrist of Neath Port Talbot Hospital, Dr P, where I was alone and "they" had the chief nursing officer and three other NHS officials who just tore me to strips and ORDERED me to continue treatment for my mental condition. I felt like the little boy in the painting by W.F. Eames "When did you last see your father?" I attended more bl**dy counselling and kept being told my hatred of my mother and my sister and my partial ambidexterity were the causes of my mental illness and I had to "move on". They KEPT reinforcing that I WAS A MENTAL PATIENT and for me to accept that. Its only money was one comment. NO IT IS NOT I have had the WHOLE reason for 40 years of my life destroyed I wrote to my Assembly Member and my M.P. after 9 months for help to even get an answer from the Local Health Board . A Chief Executive, Ms K.N. refused to tell me the connection between Dr A and the local health board on 3+ occasions. The next Chief Executive did eventually tell me he was the medical director. I had asked the question because of the delay in replying and also the answer would then show the honesty and transparency with which the investigation was being dealt with. I thought that as Medical Director of the Local Health Board he was in fact investigating himself, as it apparently turned out to be. When I got the curt reply from the second Chief executive my case was immediately transferred to the Independent Review in Brecon. In their report it was said: I had no diagnosis of any illness, the treatment that I eventually received after 18 months was good treatment. A report form a "medical advisor" said , without naming a diagnosis, that I was delusional and an awkward patient that would not accept the diagnosis (err?). I interpreted his remarks that I could be a paranoid, because I kept asking for answers, delusional, as I expected answers, psychophrenic, as I had 2 personalities now, one as an ex-dentist and one as an angry mental patient. Mr D.H.S said that Dr A had consulted his "private and personal" notes about me, but would not explain their presence and totally ignored any reference to the Medical Opinion.. Surely they are a second copy of my medical notes and WHY after 5 years would Dr A HAVE KEPT these notes about me? They ignored the chaos surrounding my retirement. The National Health Ombudsman reiterated the Independent Review's response and also said that Dr A was negligent and causative of everything BUT as it was now an employment issue they would find no fault. I since have spoken to a few "Employment Solicitors" and they have said that "it is NOT AN EMPLOYMENT ISSUE it was a case of Medical malpractice and referred me to negligence solicitors, who NOW said that this was "all out of time" but one said, again, that I had a case for medical negligence. They also refused to accept the Medical Opinion as evidence saying that it was NEW EVIDENCE and therefore not admissible even though it WAS in my medical notes which they said they had read. However when asked for the documentation they hold under the Data Protection Act 1998 they REFUSED to release them , Mr A.P. saying that the "majority I already had in my possession". They too ignored the chaos surrounding my retirement. Dr C.J. of the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales said that Dr A was almost exemplary in his treatment of me and that I had probably forgotten what he told me. WHICH as he told me nothing meant, I assume, that I forgot what Dr A hadn't told me. They too ignored the chaos surrounding my retirement. I have written again to my Assembly Member, my MP, and 2 Welsh Assembly Heath secretaries and received prevarication and/or regret that they were unable to assist me. One Health secretary Dr B.G. saying that the NHS Complaint Service was self policing and he would not interfere but he referred me to AVMA who said they couldn't help. I wrote to Plaid Cymru and they said they would take up my case but I could NEVER again get in contact with their office. I have written to MIND, SANE and innumerable other charities but only receive sorrow at the way I have been shamefully treated by the NHS in Wales. I contacted the Equality and Human rights commission in Wales for advice and was immediately sent to a solicitor but no advice. Interesting but irrelevant thing I found on the internet about them.
